Its a 20 min walk uphill from the car parking, they will not inform you that at the time of booking. We had senior citizens with us, and only realised this once we reached Chitkul, and were adamant and did not refund our advance as well. Will strongly suggest to avoid, more for the dishonest intentions than anything else. In such cases any property will make a voluntary disclosure about the access issues, but these guys concealed it and later said it is our fault that we did not ask.

The view out of the window is breathtaking. The rooms are cozy and the hosts are warm. Nice place to stay if you are visiting chitkul. The food is not very great. There are better places with better concepts like zostel to explore.

Have to walk for sometime on a cemented footpath to reach the hotel. The room service, sights & scenes were alright. Two young couples were too drunk & noisy till around midnight in the common open space. Disturbed peace & tranquility for everyone else!

As part of our trip to Kinnaur region from 21.05 to 30.05, we visited Narkanda - Sangla - Chitkul - Sarhan - Fagu. We were at Chhitkul from 25.05 to 28.05. We booked the hotel well in advance and paid full amount except advance for one room. We reached at Wanderer's nest in the late afternoon. We booked in all 4 premium rooms and were allotted Room No. 301 to 303 and 201. The Hotel is scenically located in the little uphill. We have to walk for 10 minutes by the pathway so as to reach the Hotel. Being at 11350 ft above sea level it is very hectic experience to walk upto the hotel. So everybody must make up their mind that the hotel is not easily approachable by vehicle but one has to walk uphill to reach the Hotel. The mobile phones are not operating beyond Rachchaam. BSNL was working but one cannot give guarantee of the range / signal. Internet connection is not working. We were welcomed well by the Manager - ARPIT. Our luggage was brought to the hotel by the staff - Happy , S.P. and one other person. We immediately exchanged our gratitude for the same and shared token of affection for their service to us. The rooms are nice. The premium rooms are having windows on 2 sides and the standard room is open on 1 side only. Otherwise there is no difference amongst the rooms. We 3 families ranging from 6 year to 64 years were on 2 weeks trip to explore Kinnaur region. We did our homework so as to explore the region in depth. On our arrival we explained Arpit that we want to explore the Chhitkul valley by walking. To which he promptly responded. He expressed his desire to take us to the Black Glacier or near the same. We were amazed by his willingness. We were nicely served with tea , coffee, milk , french-fries, pakodas. After we reached the hotel the climate changed suddenly. We experienced snow fall and enjoyed the same. On the next day morning, we were served with nice breakfast including Poha, Grilled Sandwich , Toast Butter Jamm , parantha etc. Till now everything was smooth. We were asking ARPIT as to when we shall be leaving for the trek to Black Glacier. One of us noticed that and shared this with us latter that ARPIT was hesitant in taking us for the trek. While we were enjoying our breakfast , he put various questions like whether our children will walk, whether all of us were having proper shoes with grip etc. Finally after finishing our breakfast 8 of us were ready to depart for the trek. We left the hotel and were assembled on the main road where our Vehicles were parked. Thereafter we all started our journey. ARPIT did not come for 30 minutes. We were to call him 2 to 3 times and ultimately we started our own alongwith our Driver - Sonu / Bhupinder ( 9817356899/9816378229) . We asked the local people about the way to Black Glacier. We were near the bridge , when we found ARPIT standing there. We then followed the path. At one place the path was disturbed as there was land sliding, we opted the route through the water stream. ARPIT was unable to find the way connecting the main path again. Our driver - Sonu / Bhupinder tried his best to find the way to which he succeeded. We followed him and were on right path. By this ARPIT appears to have got annoyed. We waited for him for 20 minutes but he did not come. Ultimately we called him twice. According to him , since we were following Our driver- Sonu / Bhupinder , he expressed his unwillingness to continue. By due deliberations and requests he agreed to join us. We told him that now he will lead us as we were with him. Finally we reached at the top / plateau ( Not exactly the Black Glacier) from where we all including our kids can enjoy the snow and the valley of Chhitkul. ARPIT dropped us at the top and was busy on his phone , even we could not locate him. Our driver - Sonu / Bhupinder was with us and our kids enjoyed the moments with him. We clicked lot of photographs there. Finally after 45 minutes we called ARPIT and asked him that we have move towards the Hotel as the clock was approaching to 3 o'clock. Our driver- Sonu / Bhupinder put some stones and made the slippery patch proper to walk. Within 1 hr we reached hotel. On our return to the Hotel we asked the Kitchen person - Happy to serve us with tea , coffee and french fries. In turn Happy informed us that the lunch is not yet ready. As we were exhausted and it was already 4O'clock we decided to skip the lunch and asked Happy to serve us with tea , coffee and french fries. Thereafter ARPIT came out from his room on the first floor and insisted us to have the lunch. We informed him that there has to be consensus between the Kitchen staff and him. We further told him to serve the lunch order at Dinner as food should not go waste. Thereafter We again asked ARPIT to serve us with tea, coffee and french fries as everybody was tired. At 5.15 p.m. I personally went to the kitchen and knocked the door as to find out what happened to our order for tea , coffee and french fries. ARPIT refuted by saying that nobody has placed any order and denied to serve us on ground that the kitchen cleaning activity in going on. One must note that the Snacks timing is from 5 O'clock onwards. My self and my friend Prasanna , we both came down to the ground floor and again requested ARPIT to serve us with tea etc. ARPIT was adamant and behaved rudely with us and the kitchen staff was laughing during this time. I literally touched his feet and requested to serve us tea , coffee and french fries , which we ordered when we returned from our hectic walk. He was rude that he even informed us he favoured us by accompanying us to the trek otherwise one would have charged for such thing. I asked ARPIT to share the cell number of the owner of the Hotel , so that I can communicate the incidence to him. To which he refuted and asked us to gather the same on our own. He was knowing that we were helpless as our phones were not working. We found ourselves in unsecured atmosphere. By understanding the need of time, we all decided not to order anything from the Wanderer's nest. As we have kids and senior citizens with us, My self and my friend Prasanna decided to visit Chhitkul for further arrangements. On our way to village , we found local ladies going back to home with the cows. We shared what has happened with us in the Hotel and requested them to help us out. To our utter surprise, one of the lady from that group called her friend and asked us to follow her. We reached SHIVA HOME STAY - 7018162927,9459571195,8894089296. The lady consented for serving us with yummy dinner with a very short notice with whatever little resources she was having. At 8 o'clock , the lady send her husband to take us for dinner. We are really thankful to the mighty GOD who was with us with supportive weather and who also sent helping during the time we needed most. ARPIT or his team did not even bothered to ask us whether we are taking dinner or not. On the next day i.e. 27.05.2019 , same thing repeated. ARPIT or his team did not even bothered to ask us whether we are taking breakfast or not. We left the hotel and have our breakfast at SHIVA HOME STAY. Then we left for RACKCHAAM. We all enjoyed the river bed and had out lunch at RACKCHAAM. As we were in range, I called the booking number 8800824825 and shared my experience with the person receiving the call and requested him to share the cell number of the owner of the Hotel , so that I can communicate the incidence to him. Ultimately I got the number of the owner of the Hotel and spoke with him on 9877604685. He heard us and expressed that , whatever has happened should not have happened. On our return to the hotel, the staff enquired with few of us. We did our dinner at THAKUR DHABA , CHHITKUL. On 28.05.2019 we were to depart for SARHAN. ARPIT did not spoke with me after the evening of 26.05.2019. So people, be careful about such staff, as your entire trip may get spoiled. You may feel insecure and may left high and dry at the mercy of manager and hotel staff. Fortunately we got help by the local people. Otherwise the rooms are nice. The food served is overpriced. The prices were comparable with 5 star hotel. We are thankful to ARPIT, as his rude nature saved a pinch to our pockets. We saved a lot by eating at local eateries. Please note that I am sharing my own experience only and the same is not hearsay. Even I am not sharing the experience by our 2 lady members who did not join us for trek and decided to rest at rooms itself and who were served with lunch at 4o'clock just before our return. When we enquired with our driver - Sonu and Sunil , they also concurred with us. They also got rude treatment from the staff. First day, they were served with dinner at 10.30 p.m. and they were not provided with bucket of hot water for bathing in 3 days stay. ARPIT AND HIS BELOVED STAFF , the future of wanderer's nest requires to be relooked by the owner. ARPIT showed all his colours during our stay like a Himalayan Chameleon. This all left us to feel or wonder , why we booked the WANDERER'S NEST.
